First things first. It matters because Parkinson's isn't a sexy disease, but I believe you can be sexy despite having it. It matters because I was 38 years old and single when I was diagnosed. I am now 48 years old, married, and I am not giving up on my sexiness or desire to be sexy because I have Parkinson's. If and when this ever changes, I will let you know. Sexiness matters to me, and I know I'm not alone.
So, then….What is sexy? From Merriam Webster online.
sexy - adjective ˈsek-sē
1: sexually suggestive or stimulating : EROTIC
2: generally attractive or interesting : APPEALING
The definitions I came across primarily define sexy as an adjective. The word feeling is a noun, and a person can feel sexy. As defined in online dictionaries, the feeling version of sexy isn't the focus.
My question on whether or not I can be sexy with dystonia crawling to the toilet is both about feeling sexy and being seen as sexy by someone else.
The question may seem far-fetched, but I have crawled to the bathroom in front of my husband. We live in a small cottage, so thankfully, I didn't have far to crawl. I made a joke about my predicament and, with a smile, said to him, "You're thinking about how hot I am looking right now." Since then, I have thought about it seriously. Why not?
